The roofs we see in Kimmage.

Most of the area was laid out in the 1930s, much of it by Dublin Corporation. The houses are two-storey semis and short terraces with concrete tile roofs, many of them hipped, and chimney stacks shared on the party wall. Off Kimmage Road Lower and near Mount Argus there are older houses and cottages with slate. A lot of the original tile is still on the roof.

Timber fascia and cast iron guttersOriginal fascia has rotted on many houses and the cast iron gutters have cracked at the joints.
Thin attic insulationLittle was put in when the houses were built, and much of what was added since has flattened.
