When the fascia rots, the gutter sags, the water runs down the wall and the damp gets into the eaves. Replacing the lot in uPVC ends the painting and the rot.

How fascia and gutters are priced.

The price comes from the length of the run, whether the rafter ends need work and the gutter profile that suits the house. It is written down before we start. If the rafter ends are rotten behind the old fascia, Jordan shows you and prices the repair before any extra work.

What people ask about the edge of the roof.

Can you cap over the old fascia instead of replacing it?

You can, and some firms do, but it traps the rot behind the plastic. We strip the old board, repair the timber behind it and fit new uPVC. It costs a little more and it lasts.

Do you replace the gutters at the same time?

Usually, because the gutter has to come off to do the fascia anyway. If your gutters are good they go back on. If they are not, new uPVC gutters are added to the one price.

What about the roof felt at the eaves?

On a lot of Dublin houses the felt has rotted at the gutter edge, so water runs behind the gutter and down the wall. An eaves felt tray goes in with the new fascia to fix that.

Do you clean gutters?

Yes, and it is worth doing before winter. If the survey shows the gutters are past cleaning, Jordan will tell you rather than clear them and take your money.
