The valley is where two roof slopes meet, and it carries more water than any other part of the roof. Worn valleys are stripped back to the board, relined in lead and dressed by hand so the water runs down to the gutter.
When the lead splits or the cut slates either side slip, the water comes straight through the ceiling below.

Slates lifted either side, the old lead or fibreglass stripped out, new lead laid over a proper board and the slates re-fixed. The right job for a valley that has failed.

A split or a lifted edge fixed without stripping the whole run, where the survey shows the rest of the lead is sound.

The cut slates along a valley are the ones that slip. They are re-fixed or replaced with matched slate while the valley is open.

Jordan looks at the whole roof, from above with a drone where it helps, so the price is based on what is actually there.
A written price before any work starts. If hidden damage turns up, Jordan shows you and prices it before going further.
Fully qualified roofers, proper materials, and the site left clean when the job is done.
The price depends on the length of the valley, what it is lined with and how many slates need lifting. It is written down before we start. If the board under the lead is rotten, Jordan shows you and prices it before any extra work.
Dublin's Victorian and Edwardian terraces have plenty of valleys, many still on old lead. We repair them across Dublin and the surrounding counties from our base in Kimmage, Dublin 12.

Storm damage, a slipped slate, a leak over the bed. The mobile is answered 24 hours, so ring it first.
Emergency roof repairs, what to expectWhat people ask when the leak turns out to be the valley.
Lead laid properly moves with the roof and lasts for decades. Sealant is a patch that tends to fail within a season or two. Fibreglass can work, but where a valley has already failed, Jordan will usually recommend lead.
Only the slates along the valley, usually two or three courses either side. They are re-fixed afterwards, and any broken ones are replaced with matched slate.
Sometimes. If the lead is sound apart from one split or a lifted edge, you are quoted for a repair. If the lead has gone thin or cracked along its length, replacing it is the only repair that lasts.
You often cannot tell from inside, because water travels along the timbers before it drips. The survey looks at the whole roof and shows you where it is getting in.
Book a free survey and Jordan will tell you whether the valley needs a repair or a new lining.
