The estates were built out between the 1950s and the 1970s. The houses have hipped or gabled concrete tile roofs, a chimney on the party wall or the gable, and many have a flat-roofed garage or kitchen extension added later. Long rows of the same house type mean the same faults often show up along a whole road. Nearer the village and Templeogue Bridge there are a few older houses with slate.
